Loading Dock Wake Forest

Adaptive Reuse

|

Corporate / Office

Located in Wake Forest, NC, this adaptive reuse project transformed a ~100-year-old warehouse while retaining its historical elements. The steel structure, exterior walls, and concrete slabs were preserved, seamlessly integrated into the new design by the talented design team. We undertook extensive work, including replacing the plumbing, electrical systems, sprinkler system, and roof. Asbestos abatement and significant demolition were also necessary due to the building’s age, presenting numerous challenges and unexpected twists.

Despite these hurdles, the project spanned 24,000 sq ft and took around 12 months to build, following a comprehensive 2-year pre-construction phase. Early involvement with the town of Wake Forest was crucial, helping to piece the project together through various iterations and budget exercises. This collaborative approach allowed for the evolution of ideas and the balancing of costs.

Our success was due to the exceptional team, client, and design partners we worked with. Special thanks to John Hines AIA with Plus Architecture for his innovative design work. When you have a great team, client, and design partners, navigating challenges becomes much easier.

Thank you to everyone involved in making the Loading Dock Wake Forest project a success.
